DEATH OF LORD RAMA | HOW RAMA DIED

This incident is about the time when Sri Ram returned to Ayodhya after Lanka victory and became the king of Ayodhya.

After defeating Ravan , Ram returned to Ayodhya with Sita and Lakshman.

After reaching Ayodhya there were several rumours about Sita that she had been in Lanka for over 12 months 1, how can she be pavitra(not had any relationship with Ravan) anymore. Once there was a dhobi whose wife didn’t came to the house for a night , when she came back in morning the dhobi said that I am not Ram whose wife was away for 12 months(However Padma Purana states and confirms that Sita Lived in Ravana's House for the brief period of 11 Months and 14 days to be precise.) and still he accepted her.

When this matter reach Ram’s court he thought of that it might be painful for my people to accept Sita.

He asked Lakshman to take her to sage Valmiki’s ashram and leave her.
Years after Ram did an Aswmegha yagya in which a horse is left and wherever it goes the place will be under Ram’s rule if the king of the place wants he even can challenge ram,but no one dares to do so.
when this horse reached Luv and Kush(sons of Ram) they stopped it and challenged the king, Ram sent Lakshman for the war but he came back defeated. In great anger, Ram started an attack over his children where Sita comes in between and tell both of the their relation with each other.

After this Ram said to Sita to do an agnipariksha (test for purity) but Sita refused to do so and ASK BHUDEVI(GODDESS OF SOIL) TO TAKE HER IN ITSELF.

After death of Sita, Ram was devastated and he knew now it was his time to leave this world , but he also knew that up and until Hanuman is alive Yamraj (god of death and righteousness) cannot come to him as Hanuman will stop him.

So he played a trick once he took out his ring and threw it in a crack on ground and asked Hanuman to get it. When Hanuman got into the crack he got to know that it was a way to nag lok (abode of serpents) where he met Vasuki (king of serpents) and told about his mission. then Vasuki led him towards the mountain of rings.
After seeing this Hanuman asked Vasuki how one ring become this many and Vasuki replied “ this is being followed by eternity every time when treta yug comes Ram throws his ring and when you take it back he is already gone with Yamraj”

One day Yama Devta came to see Sri Rama and to discuss something important. Before starting the discussion he asked Lord Rama to promise him that nobody disrupts this conversation until it is over otherwise he has to give death penalty to that person.

Ram appointed Laxman as the gatekeeper so that no can disrupt the conversation.

Laxman stands as the gatekeeper. After a short time, Durvasa rishi visited the place and asked Lakshmana to inform Ram about his arrival, Lakshmana humbly denied.

After this, rishi Durvasa got angry on him and he said he will curse the entire Ayodhya. To save Ayodhya, Laxman decided to sacrifice himself. He went inside to inform Lord Ram about his arrival

Now Shri Rama got confused because he had to give death penalty to Lakshman according to his promise. In the event of this dilemma, Shri Ram remembered his Guru Vasishta and asked him to show the other way.

Guru Vasishta, you can leave Laxman and it is same as giving the death penalty. Laxman after listening to this told that he can't stay away from his brother for his whole life. Laxman decided to embrace death by obeying his brother’s word. After that, Lakshman took water samadhi.

 Rama had abandoned earth by sinking into the river Saryu.

 It is believed that when Sita abandoned her body after being absorbed in the earth, lord Ram abandoned the earth after taking water samadhi in the river Saryu.
